On August 15, 2024, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) was published by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. UU is ranked first in the Netherlands and 55th out of 1,000 in the full list.
For several years now, UU has finished in first place. In addition to Utrecht University, the ranking includes Groningen University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Leiden University and Radboud University Nijmegen, among others.
